PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

My passion for nature photography stems from my love of wildlife, the outdoors, and birdwatching. My favorite haunts include the Richmond shoreline, Palo Alto Baylands, Sacramento and Klamath National Wildlife Refuges, The Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone National Park.
I moved to the Bay Area five years ago from Indianapolis where I enjoyed a busy career as a professional violinist. I was a member of the orchestras of Kansas City, Indianapolis, and St. Louis, was an active chamber music performer, ran a program for young violinists and cellists, and was a private violin teacher. My interest in photography began as a young girl and was no doubt influenced by my father, an avid amateur photographer.
My works have been displayed at the University of Indianapolis and several Bay Area locations, such as Albany Arts Gallery, Berkeley Store Gallery, and Los Medanos College. I am a member of Bay Area Bird Photographers, and Image Circle Photographers. Publications include Outdoor California Magazine, Sierra Club Yodeler Magazine, Family News, Childrens Community Center 1999 Yearbook, and the University of Indianapolis Alumni Magazine. In 1998 I received a first prize and honorable mention in the color print division of the El Cerrito Art Association competition.

One of the ways that we can grow to appreciate the world around us is to stop and take notice.
While many of us do not have the time, or live in the right spot to study the natural world up close, a photograph can capture a moment in time and bring us in touch with our world.
Maybe the photographs will inspire you or your family to learn more about wildlife. And you also might be surprised at how close the oceans, the mountains or the wetlands are to the cities that many of us live in.
As an example, Eleanor takes her camera into the San Francisco Bay which runs from San Jose in the South, up past San Francisco and on towards Sacramento, California. The population of this area is well in excess of five million people. Yet, Eleanor knows the right spots to capture animals in their natural habitat.
