Where's West Nile?
After several summers of increasing West Nile Virus infections in the U.S., this summer there has been no activity? What gives? Scientists are not sure. It could be the wild weather we had over the winter months. It could be a natural cycle, or it could have found our hosts not to its liking. Perhaps though it's just getting a late start and I've spoken too soon. It's useful to keep in mind that there is much that we don't know and cannot predict. Soon we will be hearing about the approaching SARS season. Will it get worst, killing thousands, or will it disappear? Too soon to tell. One thing we can be sure of, it will not be exactly what anyone will predict.
